Dr. Mills specializes exclusively in glaucoma, and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Mills graduated from Yale University and from Yale Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington, and his glaucoma fellowship at the University of British Columbia. He was on the faculty at the UW for over twenty years, and was Acting Chair before departing to become Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kentucky from 1999-2002.
He is very happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest. His research interests include diagnostic tests for glaucoma and quality of life measurement in glaucoma patients. He is a former president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Washington State Academy of Ophthalmology, and currently serves as Director of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Vice-Chair of the Ophthalmology Residency Review Committee, and delegate to the American Board of Medical Specialties. He is currently Chair of Eyecare America, the public service program of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, editor of EyeNet Magazine, on the editorial board of the Journal of Glaucoma, and is author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He is listed in the current edition of Best Doctors of America.
